Fevers April/May

Just wanted to make sure I take note of two separate fevers that Carson had. On April 5th Carson had a fever of 103.6 so we took him to the ED at PCMC and they ran all the usual tests. His ANC came back at 4.7 He had mild cold symptoms but did not look well, his heart rate was very high and he was very out of it. They kept us over night as a precaution and luckily he was doing a lot better the next day so we were released. He got over the cold symptoms fairly quick. They put all chemo on hold for a week and checked his Counts a week later only to find out his ANC had dropped down to .6. They held all chemo for another two weeks while we were in California and checked his counts once we got back and yet again the counts had dropped to .4.

Then after one month off of Chemo on May 3rd Carson got yet another fever of 100.9, this time with no symptoms... so again we took him to the ED at PCMC. AGAIN they ran all the usual tests and we were sent home with an ANC of 1.2. We finally restarted Chemo a few days later. He has been on a 50% dose since. April and May have been a roller coaster of Low Counts, Fever's and no chemo.. UGH!
The Home health nurse came out this morning to check counts I will post results when I get them.

  1. great post, jodi! hey i think all the amped up efforts to spread the word (especially yours) have been helping - like 4 new teams and a couple thousand dollars more (i think) than we had last week at the meeting. i don't know if i've said it before, but i am really inspired by all your do for other people with all you've got going on in your own family. i look up to you.
