Well I have never been so happy to say goodbye at New Years! Goodbye 2009! Carson, you made it! You made it through, Induction, Intensified Consolidation, & Interim Maintenance! Your beautiful hair and eyebrows are starting to grow back and I am so happy you have been feeling so good. We love you and we are all so proud of you! Our little hero....
Carson is currently on a two week break. Then starting on Jan 12th... is the next phase of treatment- Delayed Intensification. This next phase will not be easy but it is very important, it is the last hard HIT on the Cancer before they back off in Maintenance(the last phase and the remainder 3 years) This phase includes the following... Dexamethasone(steroids), Vincristine, Doxorubicine, Cyclohosphamide, Thioguanine, Cytarabine, and Methotrexate, all very nasty stuff!!! You can do this bud , 6 weeks and then on to >>>Maintenance! Hang in there little buddy! You have so many people rooting for you, your so small and so young to have to go through all this, but we know you can do it. Your so brave, keep up the good work, we all Love you so much!
Well we were SO lucky to have Carson home and well for Christmas. We had a great holiday break. Not only was he home (with no mouth sores) but he was feeling really GREAT! On Christmas we spent the morning at home opening gifts from Santa and then in the afternoon with my Family at Grandma & Grandpa Lew's house! We played carnival games in the basketball course, ate lots of yummy food, and opened lots of gifts, it was just perfect. Carson played with all his cousins and as usual never wanted to leave.
Then we came back home on Christmas night to cleaning up from Santa, and playing some new Wii games, we really thought Christmas was all over when...... we got a phone call from Aunt Kim & uncle Scott. They said that they had gifts and wanted to stop by for a minute and say hi and see the kids. When they got to our house they were not alone. They came with a few more family members, and friends. They had an AMAZING surprise for our family! They had put a fundraiser together for Carson. It is a beautiful Cookbook - Recipes from behind the Chair, dedicated to Carson. It has lots & lots of amazing recipes in it all donated by lots of different family and friends. They raised money to help our family with the many medical bills & various costs that we will endure over the next three years. We were so surprised and really just speechless at what they had done all behind our backs over the last three months. AND not just the money that was raised but the time, the love, & the sacrafices, that went into making it all happen.
We are so lucky to have you all in our lives! Too many people to thank, but just to recognize a few are Kim & Scott Fields, Sharon Schnupp, Bud & Diana Fields, Heidi Shaw, Holly Afeaki, Whittney Sperry, Lewis & Janet Evans, all of my siblings and all the rest of you.... just know from the bottom of our hearts how much the cookbook and all the work means to us. We hope you all know the amount of stress that is lifted from Hyrum and I. Hyrum was trying to work lots of extra shits to make sure we are not overwhelmed at the first of the year when the deductible, and the out of pocket start all over again. The extra shifts for Hyrum = time away from his sweet little guy, which he hates more then anything. So we are just so happy and so blessed to have more time with Carson and less financial stress. Again, thank you to EVERYONE'S help/involvement with the Cookbook. It means so much to us. Carson is so lucky to have so many people that care so much about him! We LOVE all of you!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Love, Hyrum, Jodi, Sydney, Hannah & Little C!!
