Jodi took Carson in for his chemotherapy last Tuesday and he also required a transfusion that kept them there for nearly 8 hours. To top it all off, he ended up with a fever later that night and had to go back to the emergency room for a blood culture and antibiotics (another 3 hours at Alta View). Then back the next day up to Primary Childrens for a 4 night stay. That last round of chemo really took its toll on Carson's little body. Just as fast as he had healed and gained energy the previous 2 weeks, he was down again.
But now we've been home from the hospital for a few days now, Carson really has turned things around and is running and playing again. Bad news is that we did get his ANC today and it is at zero. It had been falling steadily since his last chemo on Tuesday, but we never thought it would get that low. So we have the house on lock-down, and Sydney and Hannah are on high germ-alert. It has been quite a challenge keeping the coughs and sniffles away from little C ever since school started a few weeks ago.
